SAMA Government Affairs Committee Reports Progress

Last year, SAMA authored legislative reform that would empower each county to create an Industrial Development Authority or IDA. IDAs would be given the authority to provide tax incentives to businesses wanting to locate or expand operations within the county. We secured sponsors for the bill in both the Florida Senate and House. As we moved through the committee review process, we were informed that to enact our reform would require an amendment to the Florida Constitution, which in turn requir… Continue

1: Don't Experience Recession: The economy has not completely collapsed. It is just harder than it was inthe past. Step up front end buisness activities like advertising and marketing to capture new customers while ensuring that old customers don;t forget about you.

Opportunity in Chaos

Opportunity in Chaos

"There is no security, only opportunity"
Gen . Douglas MacArthur

Chaos and opportunity are twins. People mistake one for the other all of the time. You get about half a minute to decide what you are looking at. Maybe less. Then you have to make a choice."
T. Jefferson Parker

Never in our lifetime has this been more true. Stay aware, stay flexible, be ready to seize opportunity when it presents itself.

Habits To Success - Cold Calling As A Science

The Science of Cold Calling

Sales people dread cold calling. As human beings, we would prefer to interact with those we know. The potential rewards available through reaching out to an unknown person are dwarfed by the discomfort, the fear of rejection… of failure.

So as in life, we tend to avoid the uncomfortable.
We postpone the distasteful.
We subscribe to myths about what we do not understand.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Today the cold call takes on a new level of importance. With… Continue

US Manufacturing Showing Early Signs of Recovery

US Manufacturing Contraction Continues To Ease.

The Wall Street Journal (8/4, A4, Murray, subscription required) reports, "The decline in the U.S. manufacturing sector continued to ease in July as factories boosted output, an early sign that manufacturers and the overall economy are likely to grow in the third quarter." An increase in "new orders and production -- and a slight improvement in employment -- propelled the Institute for Supply Management's manufacturing index to 48.9 last month, up… Continue

General Motors, the industry giant that ruled the auto industry for 50+ years is going bankrupt.
